TYPO PRODUCTS LLC供應iPhone一個塑膠材質滑入的全鍵盤手機殼，套上iPhone（會蓋住Home鍵），並使用藍牙傳輸訊號，本身需要電力，但讓使用者可以使用實體鍵盤輸入，且不會影響可視範圍，這樣輸入就舒適多了。

現在，黑莓機（blackberry）RIM公司對此設計提出侵權告訴（ Northern District of California），黑莓機的特色是在手機上有實體全鍵盤的設計，現在認為TYPO將他的鍵盤接枝到iPhone上，顯然是一個設計方面的訴訟，TYPO這個外掛鍵盤很像Blackberry手機上的鍵盤。

產品介紹可以參閱，不過這影片是有關這個訴訟，顯然訴訟真的可以成為行銷的手段，各網站、媒體爭相報導、免費行銷（訴訟開始於CES之前！），加上TYPO PRODUCTS LLC這間公司的老闆之一Ryan Seacrest是「美國偶像（American Idol）」的主持人，話題十足：

不過，一個外掛鍵盤究竟侵害了那一種、那一件手機上實體鍵盤的專利或是智慧財產權？
綜觀Blackberry的美國專利，有關鍵盤的設計專利如：USD690722、USD690723、USD690314等，這些都是顯示在手機螢幕上的圖形使用者介面相關的設計專利。而實體鍵盤有：USD691982、USD691578、USD685775，這就如同Blackberry最新手機Q10的設計：
訴狀中提到TYPO鍵盤讓iPhone長得像Blackberry Q10的樣子，我看這是Blackberry或是一些媒體的解讀，一個提供鍵盤的新創公司幹啥要像另一個公司的產品？
訴狀中，Blackberry提出幾項聲明，TYPO鍵盤侵害Blackberry的鍵盤設計，其中包括設計專利、發明專利與trade dress（外觀商標）等，整個訴狀內容顯示Blackberry企圖透過發明專利、設計專利、Trade Dress等全面的智慧財產的保護措施引導陪審團與法官認知到Blackberry的產品設計概念，希望說服大家認定這個侵權行為是影響一個企業的發展，甚至是媒體整體的報導都有這樣的傾向。
提出的發明專利如：US7629964、US8162552，這兩件專利是有帶著顯示器的鍵盤或是鍵盤與其他部位的結合關係，應該是輔助性的專利，侵權應不見得會成立：

1. A handheld messaging device for wireless email that is optimally configured to facilitate user thumb-typing with thumbs, comprising:
a keyboard having a plurality of keys representing the letters of the alphabet said keyboard integral to the handheld messaging device, the plurality of keys comprising a left side set of keys and a right side set of keys, with the left side set of keys positioned left of a keyboard center and being oriented at an angle in a negative orientation, and the right side set of keys positioned right of the keyboard center and being oriented at the angle in a positive orientation; and
a display operatively connected to the keyboard;
wherein at least one key of the plurality of keys of the keyboard is placed at an angle that optimizes use substantially with thumbs pursuant to the user thumb typing.

1. A keyboard for a wireless handheld mobile communication device, the keyboard comprising:
a keyfield comprising a plurality of depressible keys arranged in rows that are distributed about a vertical centerline of the keyboard; and
each of the depressible keys has a top engagement surface of which an upper inboard portion is raised relative to a lower outboard portion thereof, wherein the top engagement surface of at least some of the depressible keys has a generally inclined crest shape with a top of the crest diagonally oriented on the key.
有關設計專利（USD685775）的比對，這是一件部份設計專利，主張範圍就是鍵盤本身，不過關於外掛鍵盤的設計關聯應有待商酌，但顯然是一個間接使得最終iPhone像Q10的侵權論點：

後記：
此訴訟除了有些話題外，Blackberry是提告人，並設立一間專利持有公司管理專利，利用黑莓公司取得的專利進行一些法律行動。這些資深的科技公司顯然握著不少過去努力的資產，希望能夠透過專利授權與告訴找到生機。
